Hamletmaxchine
"hamletmaxhine" derives its name from "Hamletmachine", a seminal work by postmodernist playwright Heiner Müller. The original play deconstructs Shakespeare's "Hamlet", offering a profound examination of modern human predicaments in the wake of material civilisation's collapse.
Under Müller's pen, Prince Hamlet transforms into a despondent actor/protester/soldier/mother-obsessed individual/terrorist, ultimately crying out the thought-provoking declaration, "I am not Hamlet."
On & On extends this concept through a play-within-a-play format. The Hong Kong version of Hamlet is juxtaposed with Heiner Müller's postmodern text, facilitating a transcendent dialogue between local creation and avant-garde classic.
